Freddie Allen is the Editor-In-Chief of the NNPA Newswire and BlackPressUSA.com. Freddie formerly served as the Senior Washington Correspondent for the Newswire and frequently reported on politics, civil rights, the criminal justice system and the economy.
Before serving as the Senior Washington Correspondent for the NNPA Newswire, Freddie climbed the ranks of the District Chronicles, a weekly, Black-owned newspaper based in Washington D.C., serving first as a contributing writer and photographer, then staff writer and photo editor. Finally, as general manager, Freddie pioneered the visual and editorial redesigns of the District Chronicles to better meet the growing needs of the publication's audience in the Washington metro region and beyond.
From 2005 until 2011, Freddie also served as the Editor-In-Chief of Ledge Magazine, a publication dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and HIV/AIDS awareness among young people of color. Freddie worked with the Black AIDS Institute reporting on HIV/AIDS issues affecting young people of color at the International AIDS Conference in Bangkok.
